Growing Up Gibson

Hey there! Thanks for stumbling upon my little blog, Growing Up Gibson. My name is Claire, and I’m a writer in Nashville, Tennessee. Head on over to my professional site to see some of my writing for The Tennessean, The Christian Science Monitor, and more. But here, well, here you’re going to get something a little different.

Sometimes I’ll write about our house, and other times I’ll write about poo. We have a dog, and it’s possible there’ll be a few posts about him every now and again. But ultimately, I view this little venue as a place to practice putting words on (digital) paper. Sometimes you’ll find fiction, other times you’ll find descriptions of my friends, giveaways, or other musings.

Because, you see, in May 2012, I left my stable job as a middle school teacher. I took some time to think about the nature of work before ultimately, I made the decision to pursue a career in freelance writing. Here are a few entries I wrote during that tumultuous time.

So overall, on this little blog, you’ll find a  girl trying to make it in a creative profession, with little to no clue how to do it. I guess it’s all just about growing up. Please feel free to follow me on Twitter and Facebook… but more importantly, let me know what you think!
